Edge of Tomorrow 2 Script Is Complete. The script for Doug Liman’s Live Die Repeat and Repeat is complete, and the only issue now is scheduling. Liman had previously worked alongside screenwriters Christopher Mc. Quarrie, Jez Butterworth, and John- Henry Butterworth to bring Hiroshi Sakurazaka’s Japanese light novel All You Need Is Kill to life on the big screen in 2. Although the film, titled Edge of Tomorrow, wasn’t quite the box office success that they wanted it to be, the adoring response from audiences and critics alike was convincing enough for them to pursue a sequel.

Unfortunately, since Mc. Quarrie is currently preoccupied with filming Mission: Impossible 6, he wasn’t able to pen the sequel’s screenplay. However, under his supervision, Race scribes Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse were able to come up with an unconventional sequel that will not only make sense of the first film’s ending but also change the way the industry makes sequels altogether. Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt are both confirmed to reprise their roles as Major William Cage and Sergeant Rita Vrataski, respectively, for the sequel, but the only issue now is getting their schedules to coincide. Liman has been busy promoting his latest film, American Made, and in an interview with Collider, the director confirmed that the script for Live Die Repeat and Repeat has been turned in.

Now, the only thing preventing them from getting the ball rolling is Cruise and Blunt’s schedules.“Tom and Emily and I are really excited to go do it. We have a script. We’re just trying to find a time to schedule it, between my schedule and Emily’s and Tom’s.

Of course, now that the script has been finished, they need to figure out the best time in which they can all film the sequel. Cruise is currently filming the next Mission: Impossible sequel, and once that’s finished, he will be gearing up to start filming Top Gun: Maverick.

Then, of course, there’s getting Liman’s schedule to cooperate. He has no shortage of projects on his plate, with Chaos Walking being the immediate concern. Scheduling issues are one of the primary reasons why projects don’t end up happening in Hollywood, but considering that they’re all committed to making Live Die Repeat and Repeat work, it’s safe to say that the film will end up happening at some point. Hopefully, we don’t have to wait too long, though.
